Kiara's Kavern3月7日 Need to ventOk so it's been forever since I blogged (thanks for reminding me Will that I should be keeping it up). Anyway tonight I feel like venting. I had a perfectly wonderful day and evening out bowling. I love glow bowling and had lots of fun, however when we left the bowling alley there was a major snow storm. I'm tired of snow and winter and I really need spring to finally get here. If the snow storm wasn't enough as we were walking to my car I slipped on some ice and slammed into the ground re-popping my knee that was just almost healed from last time. So now I'm at home hardly able to move and cranky. I tihnk me and bowling may be a bad combination. Last time I went bowling I ended up getting food posioning after and now this time with my knee. I quit. I really need my luck to turn around before something really bad happens. LOL
Anyway that is just my random rant. Other than that everything else is going well. Getting ready for my bday trip to Vegas and just trying to enjoy life. I will write again soon. I will try not to let so long go in between my babbling :-) Talk at you all again soon. 10月14日 SkydiveHello Everyone :-) and Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends. So I just got in from another wonderful Theatre Calgary play. Skydive was amazing. I would say it is the best play I have seen since last years The Wars. It made me laugh and even made me cry. It also made me want to go again, so I might just be spending a bit more money on theatre. It was a play about two brothers and they did the whole thing suspended in the air. It was brilliant. It had tonnes of 80's references which was great and created tonnes of laughs.
Oh I will be putting up some new photos probably tomorrow. For the long weekend I took a couple extra days off to relax and enjoy so I figured I would share. On Thursday me and the cats played outside taking some pics of the backyard with the fall colours, and then in the evening I went and saw the movie Religulous, the new Bill Maher documentary movie. It was actually really good. Certainly not for anyone that really believes in religion but I enjoyed it and found it very thought provoking. I like a movie that can make you laugh and think at the same time. Friday I decided to get a little history studying in. I figure if I'm going to write travel history there is no better place to start then with the history of my own province. As with my usual taste in history (I like the death and destruction stuff) I headed to the Crowsnest Pass and the Frank Slide Interpretative Centre. I haven't been there since I was a kid and even then I don't remember actually going and walking through the rocks. So I spent a couple hours watching some videos and looking at the exhibits in this centre and learned all about the night when Turtle Mountain came down on the town of Frank. I actually want to spend more time in that area, as there is a lot of neat history down there because of the mining that was done in the area. It would also be a lot cheaper to visit there then to head to Europe. The only downside to this visit is a couple of injuries...one to my poor Gnome Away From Home, Hank. I was trying to take a picture of him with the slide behind him and the wind blew him over so he chipped his hat. Of course that probably wasn't as bad as my badly bruised knee and arm. Apparently me and my big feet weren't on the same page while I was doing the hike through the rocks and I tripped and took quite a nasty tumble. As in the true nature of me I hurt myself but protected my camera (much like when I was younger when I would trip carrying a slurpee and never spill a drop ;-). My camera did get a little scrap on the side but nothing damaging thank goodness. As for me I just really badly bruised my knee as I said and my arm. The arm is still a bit tender but my knee only hurts now when I take the stairs, but even that is better. It sure beats Saturday where it hurt to walk. So I took it pretty easy on Saturday and Sunday. Then Monday my last of my days off I went and hung out at the zoo where I saw lots of sleeping animals, two very cute babies (the baby elephant and the baby giraffe) and even a little elephant fun...LOL What is really fun is watching the younger kids trying to figure out just what is going on and thinking what their poor parents now have to explain. hehe
Well anyway I should probably sign off and head to bed. It's late and it was a very busy day at work today and it looks like the next few will be just as bad so I need my sleep. I will write at you all again soon. Hopefully sometime before my next play...I need to get back in the habit of boring you all with my random thoughts because I know you all miss it ;-) 9月16日 Yah Jill TimeHello All. As many of you know I have been spending more time focusing on myself and less time worrying about things I can't control. With this I have been doing more things that I really wanted to do, for example Europe :-) Europe proved to be more expensive than I would have liked but for all the changes it has brought to my life and for the knowledge i gained it was worth every last penny. Well when I came back from Europe I had an email from theatre Calgary inviting me to get season tickets for this season's plays. I love live theatre but the problem with theatre calgary is it can be a bit expensive but they actually had some good deals for season tickets so I broke down. So almost every month for the next few months I will get to see a new play. I'm really excited about it. Nothing like bringing a little culture into my dull life. I went tonight for the first play. I was so happy with my seat. I'm in the 6th row and centre. They are really good. I wish I had the same seat last year when I went and saw The Wars cause that would have been awesome. The play to night was called A Raisin in the Sun and was pretty good. Apparently they have done a made for tv movie based on this play. It was about a family just trying to survive each other and the circumstances they were dealt. They were a black family trying to succeed and move forward in their life in Chicago in the 50's i think. I was really impressed with it. Next up is a play called Sky Dive next month. Anyway for now I should say good night and get some sleep. I will talk at you all again soon. 9月7日 To much time thinking = rambling blogDo you ever wonder how one event can change your life? I have been thinking about this a lot lately, probably in part due to all the Holocaust material I have been reading lately but also because a lot of things have been happening in my world that I have taken to be very negative. Since getting back from Europe I have lost friends, struggled with my new position at work and had a growing draw to figure out what I really want to do with my life. I have been struggling with feeling really out of sorts and not at all sure of myself, which is something I haven't had to deal with in a long time.
I had the last four days off and really other than hang out with a few friends and see a concert I haven't done anything but reading and thinking which is where this blog entry comes from. I think going to Europe changed me, well maybe not changed me but it has definitely caused a shift in where my brain is at. The reason I think is because it was a major trip that was completely outside of my safe little bubble that I live in at home. It proved to myself that I can survive on my own, without all my friends and without all the drama that I seem to be surrounded with when I’m at home. The three weeks that I was away helped me to realize that I wanted to simplify my life and make it my own. In general this I think has been a good change for me. I’m happier than I have been in awhile and I have a forward momentum in my life. I know what I want and am finally trying to take the steps forward that I need to get there. Of course that is not to say I haven’t struggled. My growing self confidence, a willingness to say what is on my brain, and standing up for myself and my beliefs have meant that I have had to deal with more friction in my friendships and in the workplace than I would normally like. But even that has helped me to realize that even if it sucks sometimes saying what is on your brain is really the best way to go. Most of you who really know me know that I have always had a hard time saying what I think or especially what I’m feeling, which is why I write because that makes it easier. The people pleasing part of myself has long won out but now finally I’m realizing that I can be happier if I speak up. I don’t need to be shy and meek. I have a brain and opinions and feelings and although not everyone wants to deal with them, the people that really matter to me are supporting me. I will say I am sorry at some of the friendships that have been fractured or even lost. I have never liked to lose friends and probably never will, but I have also come to know that I can’t change how people are going to react. The only thing I can do is do what is best for me and hope like hell it works out in the long run. I’m trying to have a little faith in myself and what my brain and heart tell me and just hope that when all the chips fall and all is said and done that my world will be more peaceful. As fun as drama is for giving you something to talk about, it is sure taxing on your emotions.
I think the other thing that my trip did for me and all the reading I have been doing lately has done for me is to remind me that life is important. We only have one shot at the life we currently are living so why live it in drama and stress. It is time for me to have fun, move forward and be comfortable in my own skin because for all my flaws I am a pretty good person even if I’m the only one that ever knows it ;-) Anyway enough of my random babbling for one night. This is apparently what happens when you give me to many days off...LOL 8月17日 Full MoonHello All, time for my not so regular blog entry. The last few months have been crazy. Work has been really busy and been keeping me on my toes. I'm struggling with the leadership role a little but only because I hate feeling like a bad guy, and there is one girl who seems determined to make me have to play bad guy. I also had to get my car fixed, as I was in a minor accident. Let me emphasize minor, it really was nothing major and all is repaired and life is back to normal...well normal for me. I have been finding more time for me and things I enjoy. I completed my Europe scrapbook and had so much fun doing it. I think it turned out really well. I have also been reading like crazy again. Now I just have to work on sleeping because lately that has been a struggle. There has been some good news though in the last month or so...Aletta and Brennan, two of my friends from my university days, had their baby girl. So of course a congratulations goes out to them.
In more current news today though has been a great day. I got to hear from my two British bus drivers from my trip, which made my day. It was good to hear that they are both doing well. It totally brought me back to Europe again. I can't wait to go back over and visit and hopefully get to see the guys again, not to mention the other friends I made. After chatting with them Janice came over and we watched The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and then went out to the theatre tonight to see the second one. It was a good chick flick kind of night. Nothing like crying in a theatre to make things seem great after. LOL
Added to that we have an absolutely beautiful full moon tonight. I took a couple pictures of it and will include them here. The air smells amazing as well, almost like it's going to rain but there are hardly any clouds in the sky. It is almost the perfect night, I just need someone to share it with. Anyway on that note I should sign off for now. I will talk at you all again soon. |
